Rewilding Sweden is powered by a diverse network of funding partners – from private donors and philanthropists to foundations and public grants – all united in restoring nature and rewilding landscapes.
A heartfelt thank you to:

The Swedish Inheritance Fund funds our school initiative, where we engage a group of young adults to visit schools across Sweden and talk with students about the future of the country’s forests. Learn more about this initiative here.

The Swedish Postcode Lottery Foundation funded our initial forest rewilding initiatives in the Vindelälven-Juhttátahkka Biosphere Reserve. This 2-year initiative laid much of the groundwork for what we are now building upon and expanding. Learn more about this initiative here.

The Open Rivers Programme is funding many of our dam removal initiatives in the Nordic Taiga, including both the actual removals and much of the preparatory work, such as obtaining permits and planning. Learn more about the dam removal work here.

Ecological Restoration Fund is contributing to our core funding alongside Rewilding Europe. Their support helps finance many of the initiatives we run across the Nordic Taiga landscape, including river and forest restoration, as well as efforts to support reindeer migration routes.

The County Administrative Boards of Norrbotten and Västerbotten (CABs) allocate the annual governmental LOVA budget they receive from HaV, which is aimed at improving aquatic environments, within their respective counties. Much of our river restoration work is funded through this program. Learn more about our river restoration activities here.

The Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management (HaV) distributes government funding to Sweden’s counties for projects aimed at improving aquatic environments. All restoration work made possible through LOVA grants from the local County Administrative Boards originates from this funding. Learn more about our river restoration activities here.

EKO Energy, through its Environmental Fund, has financed the helicopter-assisted gravel release in the Abramsån River in Norrbotten. Learn more about this initiative here.

Rewilding Europe contributes annually to Rewilding Sweden’s rewilding activities.

Private donors help us scale up and bring our vision of rewilding the Nordic Taiga to life. These philanthropic contributions, both large and small, play a crucial role in our work as a fundraising NGO.
